    LIfeline Awareness Day - 8/22

    posted by Cherri

I know that I haven't been very vocal on here about Lifeline Awareness Day, but trust me, I've got good reason. More than ever, I believe in this project. I've learned so much about the world around us, and those who help those in need, and I feel even stronger that we need to do what we can to help those in need.

My friend John Henry stopped by here about a month ago. He was on his way to California, to live with some friends of his. Well, things went bad, fast, and John soon found himself homeless. He lived in his van for almost 2 full weeks, and it was the kindness of charities, churches, and just some generally nice people who got together, and were able to get John back to where he needed to be.

We don't always realize what's out there, but ... I guess it's stories like this that remind me that there are so many good things, in the midst of the bad, that give me faith in the world around us. I've been working on this project a little every day, even if I haven't been posted on the blog, and honestly, I think that this has helped me for the better. I hope that if I can reach out to at least one person to help in the world around them, I'll have done my job.

Because in one way or another, we're all looking for a lifeline. Why not reach out and give one to someone else.
